Our 100% Guarantee
Ravenstad Photography offers archival quality prints for purchase on this web site. The checkout system is easy and secure. Smugmug has chosen to use EZPrint labs only after rigorous market testing for performance and reliability. The quality of the printing is one of the key reasons Ravenstad Photography has partnered with Smugmug to provide print photography. We stand by Smugmug and EZPrint and offer a 100% guarantee for all work purchased.
If you want to order a print matted and framed, please do not order your print directly off this site. Instead use our order form. First select the image you want then print out the form and fax it to us. If you want to discuss your order, email Roger directly at email@example.com. We will confirm order and pricing before any billing. You can see what the prints look like matted and framed here. You can see prices for matted and framed prints here.
Now you can also purchase our work in published form at Blurb.com and in art products through CafePress. Ravenstad photography is only presented in ways that that highlight the photography. We have spent considerable time researching the sites that offer the best quality products for a reasonable price. You will not find Roger's photography on cheaply manufactured items. This is one reason you won't find books in soft cover or on many other products. You can shop this site and our other stores with confidence. Please review the 100% guarantee.
Enjoy our new products, and don't forget to check back and look under the "What's New!" pull down. Roger is always out shooting something new.

"The photography you see on these pages is both an evolution of my work over 20 some-odd years and a kind of coming home for me.
In 1982 I bought my first Pentax ME Super as a starving student. I honesty have no recollection of how I managed to pay for it and the 200mm zoom lens, but surely it changed me forever. As a student Landscape Architect it was becoming clear that I needed photography mostly for site analysis and record keeping. As I studied the landscape of my project sites through the lens, a whole new way of looking at the world began to open up to me. I began taking pictures beyond the project site. My 1985 trip to Europe and my 1987 trip to Nepal were great opportunities to develop my skill. There was no turning back for me, and ever since, I have been taking pictures of anything with a zip code.
The digital age created renewed interest for me after a marriage-kids-mortgage break in my photography. With my frustrating love-hate relationship with all things computers, it seemed like such a natural fit: Digital Photography and me.
I am fortunate to live in the beautiful Livermore Valley with access to endless photographic opportunities. My family demonstrates amazing patience with me and my camera on our trips to the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Nevadas. We enjoy hiking to places that many folks never see, and I am pleased to bring them to you here on these pages. Each year brings new places to photograph and new adventures in my craft. I can be found at many local Art Shows, which is an exciting way for me to get out from behind the web site and interact with customers and collectors.
I am blessed with the curiosity to see everything around me in ways that are not readily apparent to others. Nature is a fantastic laboratory for me to develop my curiosity. My observations range from the obvious to the obscure. For me natural patterns can be the ultimate representation of the human condition.
It will shock some to learn that I do not shoot with Canon or Nikon. What? No, I shoot with Olympus. While the big guys (Canon and Nikon) also make fantastic cameras, I have gone with Olympus for a few reasons. The four thirds system allows for smaller and lighter camera bodies and no cropping is required to fit standard computer monitors; Olympus (Zuiko) makes the best glass (lenses) on the market; the Olympus colors are a better fit with my landscape photography; and "Olympus" has a timeless mythological ring to it. OK the last one was a joke. The truth is that good images are less about the camera and more about the skill of the person holding the camera. I have captured great images with my pocket Canon A720. Here is an example of one.
EQUIPMENT LIST (for those who have read this far):
Cameras: E-500, E-30
Every once in while I am asked what equipment I shoot with. While this is boring for most people, for those who care, here goes nothing.
Lenses: Zuiko 12-60 mm, Zuiko 50-200 mm, Zuiko 50 mm (macro), Olympus EC-14 Tele Converter
Flash: Olympus FL 36
Filters: Circular Polarizers (for all lenses by Tiffen, Hoya, & Crystal Optics), B+W 25% graduated neutral density.
Tripod: Manfrotto 190cxpro3 with 322rc2 ball head mount.
Point and Shoot (pocket camera): Panasonic DMC-TS2, Canon Power Shot A720 IS.
Older equipment that I no longer use:
Camera: Olympus E-300
Lenses: Zuiko 14-54 mm, Zuiko 40-150 mm
Enjoy your visit . . . and please don't forget to leave a comment in my Guest Book".
